A Houston periodontist, like Dr. Porras, is a specialist in the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease (or periodontitis), in the placement of dental implants, and are experts in the treatment of oral inflammation.
Dr. Porras often treats more problematic periodontal cases, such as those with severe gum disease or a complex medical history. In addition, he is specially trained in the placement, maintenance, and repair of dental implants. All of his procedures can be done under intravenous conscious sedation.
We offer a wide range of treatments, such as scaling and root planing (in which the infected surface of the root is cleaned) or root surface debridement (in which damaged tissue is removed). We can also treat patients with severe gum problems using a range of surgical procedures.

Dr. Porras completed his undergraduate degree with honors before pursuing his passion for periodontics. He spent three years as a periodontology resident at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, earning both his periodontal specialty certification and a Master of Science degree. In 2004, Dr. Porras further distinguished himself by achieving board certification from the American Academy of Periodontology. This board certification demonstrates his advanced skill level and commitment to providing the highest quality care.

Clara has been an integral part of our practice for over 10 years. Originally from Colombia, she brings a wealth of knowledge and over 20 years of experience in dentistry. After relocating to the U.S. 19 years ago, Clara's passion for dentistry has only grown stronger. Since joining Texas Periodontal Associates in 2013, she has been dedicated to providing exceptional oral health care and education to our patients.
A Family-Centered Life
Clara’s family is her greatest joy. She and her husband are proud parents to two wonderful boys, Nicolas and Sabastian, who are the heart of her world. Together, they cherish spending time as a family, enjoying outdoor activities and movie nights. Clara feels truly blessed to be able to balance her fulfilling career with a loving, active family life.
Vanessa
Dedicated Team Member at Texas Periodontal Associates
Vanessa has been an integral part of Texas Periodontal Associates for over a year, though she’s been an honorary member of the Porras family since 2011. Her journey with the family began as a caregiver for their daughter, Elena, and over the years, she has become a beloved part of the team.
Vanessa is deeply dedicated and hardworking, always striving to contribute to the practice’s success. Outside of work, she has a passion for painting and sculpting, with the dream of one day having her own pottery studio in her backyard. Vanessa is also fascinated by criminal justice and loves watching crime documentaries on Netflix.
In her free time, Vanessa enjoys spending quality moments with her family. She and her husband, Chris, are proud parents to their son, Nova, and cherish the time they share with their dog, Boomer.
Excited for the future, Vanessa looks forward to continuing her personal and professional journey and hopes to remain a valued part of the Texas Periodontal Associates family for many years to come.

Bianca is the vibrant and energetic marketing specialist at Texas Periodontal Associates. She plays a key role in managing referring offices and promoting the practice throughout the community. Her positive attitude and dedication to growth make her an invaluable member of the team.
A recent graduate of UTSA in May 2024, Bianca is also excited to be expecting a baby girl. As the newest addition to our team, she brings a refreshing dose of positivity and sunshine to the office, making it a brighter place for both staff and patients alike.

Elena Porras, Dr. Porras’s daughter, plays a key role at Texas Periodontal Associates. A courageous cancer survivor, Elena’s resilience and spirit inspire everyone she meets. She ensures patient confidentiality by diligently shredding all sensitive information and warmly greets every patient upon arrival. Elena’s dedication and cheerful personality create a welcoming atmosphere, embodying the compassionate care Texas Periodontal Associates is known for.

As the office manager at Texas Periodontal Associates, I’m proud to work alongside my husband, Dr. Roberto Porras, to help our patients achieve healthier, brighter smiles. My passion is making a positive impact on others—whether it’s through improving their oral health or offering nutrition advice to support their overall wellness.
When I’m not at the office, I love spending quality time with our daughters, Elena and Tara, and our beloved pets, which include a lively group of dogs and a playful cat. Of course, sharing life’s special moments with Dr. Porras is what makes everything even more meaningful.
